New Peaking Lights

New grooves from two piece Peaking Lights. "All The Sun That Shines" is "positive dub", fun and crispier sounding compared to their debut LP on Night People Records,



Their second album "936" is out today on Not Not Fun and hopefully it lives up to their debut album whch was one of favourite albums of 09'.
Also there is a really great, insightful video Peaking Lights on VBS. which shows how they creating their spaced out sounds circuit bending toy keyboards,fm radios, broken pedals and whatever Aaron can find in thrift stores.

Cluster Tonight, The Ex Tomorrow

Krautrock kings Cluster are as the poster about says; playing Dublin's Village tonight. In support of their less ambient last album "Qua" which is full of chopping and changing sonic busts with touches of their gloriously dropout grooves still in there but now luring in the back. Check out two tracks from it below, "Xanesra" with is warped out omnichord and "Na Ernel" a crazed night forrest stalking march. Gary War Tonight

Peddler's of good taste Skinny Wolves have the uncanny ablity to bring over your new favourite band before you have even heard of them yet. Tonight is no exception with ex- Areil Pink member Gary War and his spooky disco acid brain rot vibes. He does a wonderful version of my second favourite A.P.P song; "Eye in The Sky", the first being the chopper-tastic Hyper Gamma Spaces. The support bands are not to be missed either, its going to be the first live outing for postpunk slickness; Logikparty. Alsoon the bill are two piece bundle of wonder; Girl Names. who have just recently signed to Capture Tracks, "which is nice".

I picked up their "Seasonings Greeting" tape single early in the year and now the new What's Up?'s debut LP has landed and certainly doesn't disappoint. Pulsating, hynotic and still as a pinch of The Advantage (Main man Robby Moncrief's previous band) in it. Im still waiting on road records to get the vinyl I order in but Ive been tapping in to its sultery playfull ways, having it stuck on repeat since I downloaded it three weeks ago.

So It was 15 years since Kurt Cubain's death, Nirvana's influence still lives on though all facets in popular music today. Heres a 11 track compilation given away with the new Analogue Magazine. "Underground" maybe not since the majority of side a is bright bubbly pop. It does contain some wonderful new Irish music and this cd/vinyl is shining a light on a lot of bands/Artist that are unknown even in their hometowns, so maybe it is underground. Some great Australian band have come under my radar recently, Fabulous Diamonds debut LP is top class trance rock which conjours up campfire chants over tom tom banging that keeps you locked tight in it's power thoughout it's brief but brillant 7 song debut.

One of the better Beck albums, comprising mostly home demos,
old timey grooves, live performances, and abstract noise experiments.
I bought it for silly money back in the day, but was worth it since it
contains my favourite Beck song "Satan Gave Me A Taco"; Excellent.

I found it on vinyl nearly two years ago and didn't even know it existed and what a
find it turned out to be. I ended up buying it again on cd so that I could have it on a
digital format. So here it is, the most beautiful thing you will hear this week
(hopefully).
